All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

***** UPDATE 7/2/19*****

We are looking for that special person who will be fully committed to caring for Loki, can provide a safe environment, is willing to monitor all food and water intake in his Bailey chair and watch for any signs of possible aspiration pneumonia.

Loki does not realize that he has any disability. He is a happy go lucky young dog that loves to play with other dogs and tends to gather toys in his bed. Won’t you be his special person. 

***** UPDATE ***** We received the Bailey chair and he is almost trained on how to get in the chair on his own within a two week period. We are now working on trying to get him to stay in the chair for the 15 minutes that he must remain upright. But he is a young boy and wants to get out and play, so we are gradually adding wait time in the chair plus holding him the remaining time. He is still young, so we are working on potty training. Since he has had the Bailey chair and been on his medication regime his vomiting has deceased and is manageable. Since he can aspirate on his own spit up, we are looking for a home where the owner is home for a good part of the day. He can be left alone - it's just best to not leave him for extended periods of time. 

Loki is a delightful little boy who is very intelligent, loves to play with other dogs and toys and wants nothing more than to be close to his owner.

Loki was purchased from a breeder and as is often the case, he has some digestive issues.  Loki was diagnosed with megaesophagus, a condition which prevents the esophagus from closing normally when food is swallowed, thereby, resulting in vomiting. which means he can aspirate his food if he does not eat sitting up.  He has a special Bailey chair to allow him to do this that will go with him to his forever home.

Loki is a delightful little boy, he hoards toys in his bed, loves attention.

Public Service Announcement:
Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
