All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

This sweet girl comes to us as an owner surrender. She had her from the time that she was a puppy but circumstances changed and they were no longer able to keep her. She has grown up being an only dog - it takes time for her to warm up to other dogs living in the same house, but we are working with her slowly to introduce other dogs. She has been pee pad trained, but will go outside to do her business when she is given the chance. She has the ability to jump rather high but to date she has not jumped the gate. She just wants to be with her person in their lap - which is understandable since her life has changed so suddenly. She is shy and timid at first, but when she warms up she is very affectionate. Her previous owner has indicated that she may have protective tendencies - she has nipped at a daughter friend. We will have her groomed then spayed and then she will be ready for her forever home.

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
