What we walked into was heartbreaking.
They were in horrible condition –
Severe skin infections
Painful ear infections
Nails so overgrown they curled into their pads
Two are heartworm positive
All needed to be spayed/neutered
Several required full mouth extractions (FME) due to chronic dental neglect
Some came to us with zero teeth
All are frightened, traumatized, and confused
Their suffering is real. Their recovery will be long.

Intake is closed.
We are FULL.
Vet bills are through the roof. and funds are depleted
We're already looking at having to pay for boarding.
Public Service Announcement: Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.
Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff. We are all volunteers. We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue. We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
