All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Cowboy and Fancy were surrendered to our rescue by family of the original owner.  She was placed into a care facility for dementia. Before surrender, a relative was supposed to be coming by and 'checking on' the poor lady and 'caring' for the dogs.  That didn't happen on a regular basis.  As a result, both of these precious pups suffered neglect.  When it DID happen, I suspect they also suffered abuse.  Cowboy is fearful and mistrusting.  He shies away from the hand, circles his enclosure and struggles against love.  He needs a patient, loving home where he can learn how to be loved again.  Neither dog was altered, nor housetrained.  He's not the least bit aggressive.

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
