All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

++Abandoned++

HI, I'm Ruby and  they say I was abandoned, but then I was found!  I don't know what that means, but I do know the food is better in my new home!  My foster mom tells me  I am going to find the perfect humans to adopt and I am going to love them FOREVER!  I am only 9 months old and I am so smart already!  I don't chew on things, well, except my foster sisters ears, but they are just so big and floppy, it isn't my fault!  I am working on house training and so far I learned if I go outside I get a treat, but not when I go inside....I don't really know why that is yet, but I go outside way more than in just for the treats now!  I am terrified of men and will alert you to the enemy!  However, if the enemy offers a treat or is the only one in the room for tummy rubs then I consider the enemy temporarily neutralized.  I no longer consider my foster dad the enemy since he always has treats!!!  I love toys and carrots.....equally!!!  My  foster sister loves toys too  so we run and play "Steal the toy" all day long.  My foster mom says I am the perfect energy for my 5yr old foster sister, but she also says I am super silly.  My foster sister is best friends with the German Sh epherd next door and they let me play with them too.  We  run up and down the iron fence over and over until we get tired and then sometimes we lay by the fence together and I am not even afraid!  If you want the sweetest, funniest, most charming est dog to give you lots of attention, I am your girl!

This puppy requires a full-time 'stay at home' parent.  Please do not apply if you are away from home more than 4 hours a day

Once approved, we will forward your application to the foster for review.  If the foster feels like this is a ‘good fit’, they will contact you to schedule  an interview.  This may be done in person or virtually, at the foster's discretion.

Please be patient if our response time is not as quick as you'd like.  We are all volunteers and do as much as we can when we can.

Public Service Announcement:
Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
