All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

UPDATE: 

Chloe's foster mom reports that she's becoming a lot more social!  She's also now used to be crated for a few (1-3) hours at a time.  She seems to tolerate other small dogs -- but hasn't had exposure to big dogs or cats.  Chloe is still cautious when meeting new folks, but warms up quickly -- and within about 30 minutes is climbing in their lap.  She LOVES going for walks and will chase whatever catches her eye -- lizard, squirrel, bird...even a leaf.   Lots of energy -- but whens she crashes, she crashes hard...frequently in a pile On your lap.  Still working on house training, but a consistent schedule of frequent outdoor trips should help!

This little girl was pulled from BARC animal shelter as an 'owner surrender'  She was matted down to the skin.  Poor precious girl.  She was groomed by the skilled groomer at Willow Creek Ranch and is now learning how to trust humans.  She was clearly neglected and abused prior to coming into rescue as she was initially barrier aggressive.   She's perfect on a leash, in your arms or free roaming in the home, but when she was initially crated, she was fearful and bitey!!

DO NOT PLAN TO CRATE THIS GIRL FOR MORE THAN A FEW HOURS AT A TIME!  SHE WILL NOT GO TO A HOME THAT PLANS TO CRATE FOR LONG PERIODS.

Public Service Announcement:
Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Please understand,

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
