All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

This little boy comes to us as an owner surrender when the owners medical condition prohibited him from continuing to care for him properly. He is housetrained, but has been having accidents lately, so he needs a little retraining. He has been having separation anxiety when he is separated from his person. Needs training on a leash. He is a digger, so he will need a secure fenced in back yard. He gets along with cats as long as they don't bother him. We'll update more as we know more.

UPDATE: Poppy is a wonderful little man. He is a great snuggler. He likes to be at his human's side all of the time. He will need someone who is home all day to alleviate his separation anxiety.  He knows how to use a doggy door and accidents are infrequent. He is a quiet, loving little boy. Poppy would be an excellent dog for a senior, or someone who is home all day. When not being held, he is content sleeping in a dog bed near his human. He needs to be near his human or another dog to sleep through the night.

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
