All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Lilo was surrendered by his family.  They originally took him in from family member who were unable to continue to care for him.  When 'life' happened, and his new family became unable to continue his care, he was surrendered to us so we could help him find is FOREVER family.

Lilo came to us with some crate anxiety. That's understandable.  in his previous families, he was crated 90% of the time.  He is FOOD AGGRESSIVE.(resource guarding).. so, if you have other dogs, you must feed separately and use CAUTION when removing food from him.

He does well with other dogs. Although he tolerates children, we feel he would be better in a home where no children live.

Has some separation anxiety, preferring to be near you if he can see you, but does fine alone.

Lilo was not neutered prior to coming to rescue.  This has resulted in indiscriminate marking.  A belly band may be necessary until he learns this behavior is no acceptable. In his current foster home he has shown no marking tendencies

lilo absolutely loves to go for walks and gets walked twice a day in his foster home

This baby is going to need calm, constant reassurance that this time is forever.

He's was bonded to the male of the home, so he may do better with a primary caretaker being a man.  Can you give Lilo his LAST home?

Lilo is currently being treated for double ear infection, and will receive his final round of meds on Monday, 12/28,  He can go home after that.
