Yoda needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?

All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

Yoda was surrendered after he wandered into the yard of a good Samaritan.  Her words:

He was pitiful. We believe he has been dumped.  It took over 3 hours to cut the mats off of him. These mats had cuckleburs in them and many of them were pressing into his skin causing sores.  He is very emaciated. He, of course, had ticks and fleas. We have been able to get all of the ticks and fleas off of him and we have him eating and he is doing well with that. I believe that he has some sort of upper respiratory infection due to the stuff coming out of his eyes. He is missing a lot of hair and it looks as if maybe his skin has a fungal infection. His eyes look like they may have cataracts. He looks older to me.

We of course said yes.  Yoda came into rescue where he was given labs, (Senior panel) fecal (+ for hookworms - treated) and vaccinations, HW test, flea/tick prevention, medicated baths, proheart inj, eye meds, and antibiotics.

after a couple of weeks, it was clear he was better, but still not 'good'.  He seemed 'stiff' and in pain.

Back to the vet for sedation spinal xrays, where vet determined possibly invertebrate disk disease.  He takes a daily maintenance dose of  Carprofen and it helps him.

Yoda has evolved into a gentle loving happy little boy who loves to cuddle.
