All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

This beautiful girl was found with her littermates at a construction site.  Workers took them to the Ft. Bend animal shelter where we immediately picked them up and took them to our vet for intake.  These babies were VERY SICK.  Giardia - Deadly intestinal bugs and wormy.  yuk

Baths and medication, and more baths, and more meds.  The diarrhea was persistent.  Another fecal sample was submitted for deep analysis.  A PCR test.  the results were bad.  Coccidia and cryptosporidiosis.

More meds.  Finally, they started getting better.  Great appetites, great energy.  They are now healthy, happy, playful puppies ready for their forever home.

Since the puppy is too young to be spayed, she cannot be legally adopted yet.  As a result, she must be placed in 'foster to adopt' homes.  This means, the rescue still maintains legal ownership of the dog and upon satisfying the spay/neuter requirement when the dog reaching appropriate age, we complete the adoption contract.  Our vet said they can begin spayed at appx 6 months of age.

As a foster, you would be required to get the puppy to our vet (in Spring, TX) for regular visits for vaccinations and her spay appointment (the rescue pays for this).

If this is a problem your application cannot be approved.

You may apply to adopt from us directly from our web site.  Please visit and submit your application.  Upon review, a volunteer will contact you if there are questions.  Please be as thorough as possible in the answering the questions.  Missing phone numbers, invalid addresses, or other inaccurate data will cause your application to be denied without further processing.

If approved, we will forward your application to the foster for review.  If the foster feels like this is a ‘good fit’, they will contact you to schedule  a 'Meet & Greet'

Should be you approved to 'foster-to-adopt' (FTA), you will be asked to execute a Foster Contract and submit ½ of the adoption fee.  (Our adoption fee varies by dog and payable by cash only.)

We usually arrange our M&G at this PetSmart

Please be patient if our response time is not as quick as you'd like.  We are all volunteers and do as much as we can when we can.  However, if we notify you that your application was approved and we’d like to arrange a M&G, you must respond within 24 hours or we will move on to the next applicant.

Good luck, and thank you for considering adoption.
