All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

This full grown boy was surrendered to our rescue when he was found running loose in a neighborhood for several days.  First stop:  Vet.  No surprise, this neglected, abandoned boy was diagnosed with heartworm disease.  

Jake is now at the end of his heart worm treatment and has come through like the Champ he is!  He is the happiest, most gentle soul and is just looking for someone to love him and give him endless tummy rubs.  He is playful, but not at all aggressive.  His foster sister is teaching him to play with toys....He tries to steal them, but like any good little brother is easily persuaded to give them back when she wants them.  Jake is a pleaser so he is easily recalled and corrected and will do pretty much anything for a carrot.  He is crate trained, has done very well at house training and will even sit on command.  However, his favorite party trick is walking around on his hind legs.  He gets along with well behaved children and other small dogs, but gets a little nervous around large dogs.  This guy really is the perfect little yorkie package all wrapped up with his curly cue tail.

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
